IRS announces announced that it is raising the IRS Standard Mileage Rate to 58.5 cents per mile NEW
[6/24/2008] - Recognizing the skyrocketing gas prices consumers are facing at the pumps, the Internal Revenue Service announced yesterday that it is raising the standard mileage deductible rate by 8 cents to 58.5 cents a mile, a rare midyear adjustment by the federal agency. The new optional rate goes into effect July 1 and is scheduled through the end of the year. Workers who use their vehicles for business can use the standard mileage rate or deduct their actual expenses on tax returns. The federal government and many private employers use the IRS rate when reimbursing workers who use their cars on the job. more

26th Annual Local Union #47 Members Golf Outing
[6/2/2008] - On Saturday, May 31 we held our 26th Annual Local Union #47 Members Golf Outing.  First team was Team #14 - B. Beck, D. Gross, J. McNulty and S. Borstorff.  Winner of the Skins Games was Team #9 - S. Peterson, B. Peterson, P. Rose and R. Welcome to UA Local 47

The Leadership and Members of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 47 would like to welcome you to our website where you can find a great deal of information about us. 

The Plumbers and Steamfitters of Local 47 work on projects of all shapes and sizes.  We actively work at the Beaver Valley Power Station - Nuclear Facility and the Bruce Mansfield Power Plant, both located in Shippingport.  We work at the BASF and NOVA Chemical in Potter Township as well as at A.K. Steel in Butler, PA.  We're working on a new Bio Diesel Plant in Erie, and we do the work for the United Refinery in Warren, PA.  One of our primary specializations lies in the medical gas installation field and we do work for many hospitals and medical facilities in our region.

In addition to the large industrial plants, we also do a lot of work for the education institutions in our area.  To name just a few, we do the work for Slippery Rock, Clarion, Edinboro, Grove City, and Gannon  We can also be found working on homes and small businesses.

The Plumbers and Steamfitters of Local 47 are vital to many industries throughout Northwestern Pennsylvania and it's because of our highly skilled workforce.  We are over 1,200 members strong and growing.  We are always looking for the best and brightest that our area has to offer.  If you're an experienced journeymen, visit the Training page to learn more about us and How to Join!  If you're interested in our Apprenticeship Program you can learn more about it through our website or maybe you require our Services.
