March 1, 2008 the following increase in Local Union 47 Death Benefit Fund will take effect:
1/18/2008

At the regular membership meeting of February 20, 2008 the final reading and vote on the proposed increase in the Local's Death Benefit Fund was approved.  Therefore March 1, 2008 the death assessment will increase to $5.00 per building trades journeyman or apprentice.

Article XIV - Local Union Death Benefit Fund

      Upon the death of any Building Trades journeyman or apprentice of Local Union No. 47 (in good standing) each Building Trades journeyman or apprentice will be assessed five dollars ($5.00) to be donated to the deceased member's beneficiary.  The Business Manager/Financial Secretary-Treasurer will be authorized and directed to pay benefits within thirty (30) days.  Death benefit shall be collected from the members before paying dues and returned to the general fund.  The death benefits to be paid out in fifty dollar ($50.00) increments or five dollar ($5.00) per person when ten additional members are added or removed from Local Union #47 cash sheet.

      Totally disabled and retired members shall be exempted from this $5.00 assessment.  Normal retirement age will be 65 years of age.  This account to be audited yearly with names of deceased members and amounts received by their beneficiary.  Any excess or shortage to be absorbed by the general fund at the end of the year.
